”Light will be betrayed. From two will come four. A challenge will be born from Water and Earth. But hope will come in the form of forbidden love.”
That was the worrying message received by FireClan’s Medicine Cat from LightClan on a trip to the Mooncave. She tried long and hard to decipher it, but died before she could. Only when she died was it understood.
LightClan would be betrayed.
DarkClan would emerge.
And with them, WaterClan and EarthClan. That was what she had to figure out. But she never could. She died before she could. And her death was the first cloud that would eventually form the storm of war.
Half of both FireClan and IceClan left, and they formed EarthClan and WaterClan: their combined power, strength and ferocity. And they together could threaten the other Clans: the Fire melted the Ice and created Water. The Ice cooled the Fire and created Earth. Or that was what the leaders of the new Clans believed.
So, Light and Dark were split in two, like the Prophecy said. And most thought that was the end of it. But it wasn’t.
Wars are being fought. There are many fights. Blood is spilled at every gathering. There are fights when cats visit the Mooncave.
LightClan, however, are not worried. They delivered their prophecy, and that will come true, no matter what. Because that is the will of LightClan, and the will of LightClan created the original two Clans.
But the will of DarkClan created WaterClan and EarthClan.
But the prophecy’s words: ‘Hope will come in the form of forbidden love.’ What does this mean?
It means just what it says. A cat from EarthClan has had kits with a cat from FireClan, and one from WaterClan with a cat from IceClan. As the leaders consider what to do with these cats, they are unknowingly pulled closer to one another in their search for an answer. This is what the prophecy meant, and this is what the prophecy delivered. But, the cats don’t realize this yet. They will, when the time is right.
When that will be, however, is a completely different story.
