The gray she-cat stirred uncomfortably in her sleep. Pulsations beated rhythmatically in a fairly odd pattern. She knew in turn that her kits were comming. She mewed pathetically. It was well past moon high and most were sleeping. She looked around in a panic like mode. Wolfclaw would be sleeping, what about Dewfrost? She called both cats names in a helpless act. Had she been loud enough for them to hear her? She was grateful to see that her sister had woken up. She two had kits, however although they were only a moon away from apprenticeship, she had been through the process and was woken up by her sisters cries. She came forward. Her eyes warm with delight."It may hurt you Crowfrost, but the delight you feel after is a whole new feeling...."
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Her loud mews, she was sure had drawn a few out of their nests. It was a long process. Her tongue dropped out the side of her muzzle, her breathes fast and sharp, however 3 kits were suckling. Purring and kneading her fur. The runt of the litter was the tom. He was very small, and it worried her dearly. The other two, were she-kits. Larger than their brother and doing well. Perhaps Dewfrost could tell her if the young tom was healthy."I will not name these kits without Wolfclaw.." She mewed. Her blue eyes dull, but glowing with a new light.

Wolfclaw walked dully out of the warrior's den. Something had been nagging at the back of his mind for most of the night. Head carried low, he turned to the horizon, squinting at the sleep in his eyes. It wasn't even sunrise yet! Ugh! Disgusted with his lack of sleep, he growled lazily to himself and began to yawn and stretch. Perhaps a walk around the camp would clear his mind so he can get back to his nest and get some sleep.
Mid-stretch, his ears caught the faint sound of kit-mewling. Young kit-mewling. Willowshine's kits weren't that young, nearly old enough to be apprentices, in fact! There was only one explanation for these beautiful voices in his ears!
"Crowfrost!"
The tom races at ramming-speed toward the nursery, the thought of his mate next to a pile of fluffy scraps driving his paws forward at an inconceivable pace. In a rather ignorable corner in his brain, he acknowledged that maybe shouting the gray she-cat's name at such a loud volume may have been unnecessary, but the fact that every cat in the camp was probably growling his name didn't matter to him. What mattered to him was that he was 99% certain that he had just slept through becoming a father!
Barely able to control himself, Wolfclaw skidded to a stop just outside the nursery. He took a deep, not-at-all-calming breath and swooped into the milk-scented den like a hawk about to smother his prey with an insane amount of love and affection. There, directly in his tunnel vision, was his mate, exactly how he had pictured her. Although the pile of scraps beside her was considerably smaller than what he had hoped for, he still felt as if he were flying in the clouds. He highly doubted that there was a happier cat in the entire forest right now.
"You realize, only gravity is holding me to the ground right now..."
And it was having a very hard time keeping him down.

Crowfrost heard her mates call in the distance. She lifted her head and a warm smile formed across her muzzle. She nodded, Willowshine stepped aside to mother her own kits. "They are beautiful Crowfrost..." With that the older she-cat layed down next to her bunch, closing her eyes she fell asleep.
Blue eyes sparkled at wolfclaw."Is that so? Perhaps Gravity should work a little harder to keep you on the ground." SHe smiled. The three bundles of fur mewling softly. Some fighting for the milk."I waited for you to come in before I named them." She looked at the three gray bundles and smiled."Now that you are here I can do that........." She mewed softly.

"Is that so? Perhaps gravity should work a little harder to keep you on the ground."
"I suppose so. Flying would separate me from these little fluffs of fur. That can't happen."
Wolfclaw scrambled forward as gracefully as he could without disturbing Willowshine and her kits. He took up a space just opposite of his mate, their kits laying between them. Suddenly, it was a lot more crowded in here, but in another moon, the four at the other corner of the den would be gone, returning to warrior duties and being paired up with mentors. Then there'd be plenty of room for the tom to visit his children.
"I waited for you to come in before I named them. Now that you are here I can do that..."
"Hm..."
Looking down at his kits, the warrior realized that the only tom of the group was a little on the small side. His gray fur was almost black in color, much like his brother's. He was tiny and he was latched onto his mother, tiny claws grasping onto whatever fur they could find.
"Spiderkit," he purred as he licked his son's head gently, receiving an angry growl in return.
The tom chuckled and lifted his head, looking at his mate proudly, "I believe that's your personality he's got."
Spiderkit gave an annoyed mew at the far-away voices drumming in his ears. He didn't understand a word of it and personally wished they would shut up so he could enjoy the sweet liquid filling his mouth at the moment.

The she-cat nodded. So the tom would be spiderkit. It was such a nice name. Especially for Shadowclan. It didn't bother her. She was glad, her eldest brother was talking about Ratkit. He was certainly no rat not in her eyes at least. She looked to the smaller she-cat, who was fairly muscular. She had hoped she would have Wolfclaws eyes, and the black flecks that belonged to him as well."She will be stormkit..." It was commonly a male name, however she felt that her patterns were nice. The way the patterns swirled together it looked like a storm. She mewed looking at her. She gave the she-kit a brisk lick. However got no response. She looked to the next. She was taller, long limbed. Gray of course and had blue eyes. She smiled at her. She was beautiful."Icekit..." She mewed. "Those will be the names. Stormkit,Icekit and Spiderkit."She mewed finally.

Wolfclaw grinned when Crowfrost approved of the name. He looked down at his two daughters as he heard their names. Stormkit and Icekit. Appropriate names. Stormkit, though usually reserved for males, was a perfect description of her fur color and pattern. He shifted his eyes to focus on the biggest kit. Icekit. Although 'ice' was usually used for white kits, it was never quite proper. Ice was clear or gray. For this kit, is was a more truthful name.
"Those will be the names. Stormkit, Icekit and Spiderkit."
The tom smiled proudly and purred. He could hardly contain himself. He wanted to cuddle his kits and stay with them, but that was Crowfrost's job. Lucky she-cats. It just wasn't fair.
"I can't wait till their old enough to play with," he said quietly.
He would have to wait until they could walk and come outside the nursery so he could roll around with them, play games, and simply be something new to crawl on top of.
In his fantasies of having a reason to act even more like a giant kit, his eyes traveled back to his smallest kit. His son was almost literally the size of his paw. He lowered his head and sniffed him worriedly, his expression darkening. He couldn't understand why he was so tiny. Although he didn't seem ill at all, he was exceptionally cold, which wasn't exactly healthy.
"Is he going to be alright?" he asked, nosing Spiderkit's small shoulder.
Spiderkit growled once more, this time unlatching from his mother and turning onto his back. He raised his tiny paws and swatted his father's nose angrily. Wolfclaw could've dodged, but he couldn't move away from his kit. He was too cute!

Crowfrost looked to where Wolfclaw pointed. Spiderkit. He was considerably small. She tilted her head to the side and frowned. Would he be okay? It was a scary thought for a first time mom to think that a kit of hers may not survive. Then of course every mother thought that all of their were blessings and perfect. They also think that no cat can compare. Her mind wandered down that path, however now was no time to think like that, especially since she didn't even know if her own son would be able to go through the ranks of Shadowclan.
She looked down, her blue eyes filled with a new look. A look of worry. She gently rasped her tongue over his dark gray fur, not caring if she got mews of protest."I would like to think so...He seems to be complaining..." THat was a good sign right? If a kit was reacting to ones surrounding that was positve. However as she trailed off a but was comming. But there could be this flaw, or, but there could be this wrong with him. It was never ending.
"I should correct myself. I hope so. He is very small, I can only hope. If he survives the night, then my hope or prayer will be answered." She looked at the small scruff of fur."Only Starclan knows whether Spiderkit will be able to grow strong. Let's just hope they side with our own prayers and hopes." She mewed softly. They would right? Her mother and father were up their. THey wouldn't dare take a small kit who she hadn't been able to meet just yet. No, they wouldn't."Sometimes I wonder, if by answering my own questions, if I have gone insane..." She was thinking out loud of course.

Wolfclaw purred in amusement as the annoyed kit growled at his mother and rolled back over only to burry himself in her fur. As long as Spiderkit stayed warm, he was sure his son would be fine. As a new father, however, worry would be a part of his life until his kits reached the age where walking and talking were no big deal. Then it was just a matter of keeping an eye on them until they were apprenticed.
"I would like to think so...He seems to be complaining..."
Seemed to be? That kit was already a little warrior! Maybe even a senior warrior, since he was so grouchy. And at any rate, all that growling and swatting was proof of strength if nothing else. Perhaps the only thing odd about him was his size and there was really nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, Wolfclaw's mate decided to claw at his hopes a bit.
"I should correct myself. I hope so. He is very small, I can only hope. If he survives the night, then my hope or prayer will be answered. Only Starclan knows whether Spiderkit will be able to grow strong. Let's just hope they side with our own prayers and hopes."
Hope indeed. Hope wasn't going to keep him healthy. Wolfclaw's eyes hardened with determination. He would do all he could, then he would put his son in the paws of StarClan. Just as he was about to leave and round up a hunting patrol, Crowfrost voiced her thoughts.
"Sometimes I wonder, if by answering my own questions, if I have gone insane..."
"Oh, you have, my dear," Wolfclaw answered with a mischievous grin on his face, "Taking me as a mate, baring my kits? No one in this camp is as crazy as you."
With that, he leaned forward and gave his mate a lick on the cheek before scrambling out of the nursery.
"I'll bring you the best fresh-kill in the whole forest!"
