It was not Lilypelt that spoke, but Crowfrost, and the RiverClan leader narrowed his eyes slightly. Had the she-cat not come in with WindClan? He wanted the story from Lilypelt, for he was quite certain she had witnessed everything, but the tom listened all the same. If she knew some things, it may help him fill the gaping hole in his head. Alas, her words did not help much; so Willowstar had gone to speak with StarClan. Most leaders did that more then twice while they lived and taking apprentices along was not uncommon, seeing as it was a requirement for a cat to journey to the Moonstone before becoming a warrior. He glared at all of the mewling cats, though he did not silence them, for he was too busy trying to piece together his mental puzzle.
Willowstar had been a proud leader. Loyal. Why would she leave? Why would she not appoint a deputy? He looked over at Vixenstar as she silenced the mewling cats, slightly taken aback by her boldness, though not for long. She had rebuilt WindClan, after all. Boldness was to be expected in a cat like that.
His eyes immediately switched over to Lilypelt as she yowled in a voice that quavered a bit, his tail tip twitching slightly. No cat eligible? The warrior code dictated that a deputy would be chosen. It didn’t matter if Duskfrost had been the best deputy in ShadowClan’s entire history- a deputy had to be chosen, to prevent…well, this from happening. Rookstar allowed his gaze to travel over to Vixenstar once more, frowning slightly before looking at Lilypelt again. All of the Clans had lost cats to the reformation of WindClan- why would Willowstar leave because of it? He frowned as she carried on, slightly disturbed by how she described the ShadowClan leader.
“Willowstar instructed me to call her Shadow.”
Rookstar’s eyes widened. Willowstar had become a loner? What about the apprentices…Fawnpaw and Stagpaw? Had they done the same as well? He remained silent as he processed this information before slowly speaking, “Willowstar has become a loner? What has happened to all the other cats of ShadowClan?” he demanded; the Clans could not afford having extra loners running about.

"Quiet! What is yowling like frightened kits going to do for us? Will you all not shut up and listen?"
The she-cat's voice made Coldstar's fur stand on end. Not because of the volume, but because of the authority carried in it. He stared at her for a brief moment. She would have made a good leader for ThunderClan, but WindClan needed her most. They required a good, confident leader to bind them together in their first moons as a new clan.
“What Crowfrost says is true! There was no cat eligible to become deputy after the disappearance of Duskfrost and we were without a medicine cat for moons. Then WindClan was formed and we began to lose cats to the new Clan. That was the final blow to ShadowClan. Willowstar left late to travel to the Moonstones and took with her Fawnpaw and Stagpaw.” She paused to gulp in a breath. “I saw her once after her journey and she was a changed cat. There was something dark about her, sinister. Willowstar was never sinister or evil before but I sensed some darker emotion in her. The apprentices were silent, especially Fawnpaw but they stuck with their leader. Willowstar instructed me to call her Shadow. Apparently she thinks she is all that is left of ShadowClan.”
“Willowstar has become a loner? What has happened to all the other cats of ShadowClan?”
"They've not been scented in ThunderClan territory, so they're obviously not stealing prey," Coldstar reported earnestly as he turned his attention back to the matter at hand, trying to calm his own fears that the ex-Clan members might have gone rogue, "Is there any reason not to think that they might come looking for a different clan to join? Like Crowfrost and her family did?"
The image of the falling tree was still reeling in Stormheart's head, making him dizzy. StarClan had never been that clear before. Had they sent subtle signs of it before? Had he missed something? Desperately, he searched his memory for the lost vision, but found none. He was a new medicine cat. Perhaps they refused to share such important matters with an apprentice at the time.
Urgently, the gray tom picked his head up and scanned the crowd for Moonwing, the most experienced Medicine cat of the remaining clans. Perhaps she had seen something.

Lilypelt sat heavily on the Great Rock, tiring quickly of all the questions being thrown at her. Did every statement require clarification? Couldn’t they infer a few things for themselves? Her green eyes narrowed slightly as she looked out at the cats gathered beneath her. Only then did it hit her: She was upon the Great Rock as if she were a leader. Lilypelt blinked slowly, suddenly daunted by this fact. The sudden realization brought unwanted doubt and duty. Shaking her head, Lilypelt tried to ignore her self-consciousness.
Lilypelt gave a tiny exasperated sigh as Rookstar asked about the rest of the cats of ShadowClan. How would she know? She wasn’t leader or deputy or even a senior warrior. She knew only about herself at this point, and Swampclaw. Where others such as Lilacpaw had gone, she had no clue. “I am all that is left of ShadowClan,” she proclaimed in a loud yet thin voice. “Swampclaw has become a loner, as for the others, I do not know.”
Coldstripe, whatever he was doing up on the Great Rock, spoke again. His logical musing caused the cream she-cats fur to bristle slightly. “Of course we aren’t stealing prey! Would point would that serve when ShadowClan territory lays open and filled with our typical diet? As for joining other Clans, I do think that is a possibility and I see no reason that you should bar them from entering. Some of these cats are young and have nowhere to go and no home to speak of. It would be cruel to leave an apprentice alone in the forest. WindClan has accepted new members, obviously, and I think the other Clans should as well.”
Wow, Lilypelt, she thought with an ounce of confusion. You really sound like a leader up here. She stared at the three others on the rock, amazed as they likely were by her commanding presence and outspoken ideas.
