PERSONALITY
Positive Traits:
-- Philosophical: When he’s not pacing or off chasing ornery squirrels, Russetstripe likes to think, to contemplate the world. He always has some witty, overly-complicated insight.
-- Strong-willed: He doesn’t like being told what to do unless he agrees with it and will fight to the death for what he believes in.
-- Humorous: His philosophical insights often contain hints of humor in them, sometimes sarcasm.
-- Intelligent: Russetstripe is, if nothing else, intelligent. He has a very sharp mind and uses it for the well-being of his Clan.
Flaws:
-- Obstinate: Because he is strong-willed, Russetstripe will oftentimes come across as obstinate and unwilling to listen. He’s given his leaders more than their fair share of trouble.
-- Grumpy: He’s getting old and achy; therefore, he’s getting grumpy. He’s good-natured overall but that doesn’t mean he won’t go off on the occasional wayward apprentice.
-- Superiority Complex: He isn’t overly arrogant, but there is a part in him that feels he is superior to others because of his age and intellect.
-- Gets Bored Easily: Unless he has something to occupy his mind or paws, Russetstripe is bored. When he’s bored, he gets grumpy and wants you to entertain him.
Fears:
-- Being worthless to his Clan
-- Disease
Quirks:
-- Paces a lot
-- Likes gnawing on bark
Ideals:
-- Intelligence
-- Worthiness
Overall: Russetstripe comes across as an obstinate, strong-willed senior warrior who always wants things his way. This is a large part of his personality, but it does not encompass the entirety of the old cat. Though he is stubborn and cranky, he has a gentle philosophical side to himself also. Russetstripe is a very intelligent cat who can almost always come to a solution for a problem. However, if you don’t use his solution, he might get a little pissy with you.
HISTORY
Family: Yarrowpelt – mother (tortoiseshell), Gingerclaw – father (ginger tabby), Wrencall – sister (tortoiseshell), Nightriver – brother (black cat)
History: Russetstripe was born many moons ago when Sparrowstar was leader of ThunderClan. She was banished not long after he was made an apprentice, but he still remembers his first leader. He and his two siblings were always getting into trouble and disobeying the warrior code as apprentices. They got their fair amount of punishment and had to wait longer than most cats to receive their warrior names. But finally, they were named Wrencall, Nightriver and Russetstripe.
Not long after the naming, Wrencall retreated to the nursery to bear kits while her brothers went on to the warriors’ den to make names for themselves. Nightriver became distant from his siblings as the moons progressed until he would hardly acknowledge that they were related. Wrencall and Russetstripe remained close, however, as Russetstripe helped care for Wrencall’s three kits.
But then Nightriver broke the warrior code further than the three of them had ever imagined when they were unruly apprentices. He left the Clan, joining with a rogue who had terrorized the Clans and was never heard from or seen again. Wrencall was distraught at her brother’s departure but Russetstripe was unfazed, attempting to comfort his sister.
Russetstripe and Wrencall were both experienced warriors when two battles over the Sunningrocks came about. Only Russetstripe was involved in the first one but both siblings were involved in the second. It was there that Wrencall lost her life and Russetstripe fell into depression. His sister had been the only cat he had ever really loved. He had never taken a mate and never would, she was all he had. After her death, Russetstripe could barely be motivated to hunt or go on patrol. Eventually, he got over his sadness and returned to normal duties as a warrior.
When the Battle of the River happened, Russetstripe was ordered to be on the patrol, being one of the most senior and experienced warriors. However, he found himself unable to go, haunted by memories of his lost sister.
The aging warrior fought again in the Second Battle of the Fourtrees though his age was beginning to show. He was not as fast or strong as he had once been yet he still put up a strong fight. He knows his elder ceremony is coming soon, but he’s going to resist it as long as he can.
