Willowstar
Willowstar waited a few moments as Fawnpaw thought over the question she had presented. The leader sat on the hard, cold earth with pale yellow eyes scrutinizing the young she-cat as she thought about her options. Willowstar smirked faintly as, even after all that thought, Fawnpaw gave a vague answer of "either". She cocked her head to one side as she looked at her apprentices and the uncertainty on her face. With another little smirk, Willowstar stood on long legs and glanced around the forest.
"Well then, let's hunt," she mewed decisively. It was obvious that the tawny apprentice would prefer that course of action after so much fighting frustration. "There's a glade over there that should have a mouse or two," she pointed with her tail towards the south. "See what you can find over there."
She shook herself, dislodging any dead leaves and snow that had clung to her pelt and padded briskly towards the glade she had indicated. A quick scent of the air told her that there was indeed prey there. She sat again on the ground with her tail curled neatly over her paws as she waited for Fawnpaw to follow.
[Short!]

A quiet sigh of relief flowed from Fawnpaw's small, compact body as she heard Willowstar's decision. Hunting. Thank StarClan! Her leader and mentor motioned toward a small glade, and Fawnpaw sprang to her paws and followed quickly.
A break in the clouds allowed for a few rays of pure sunlight to rest upon the small glade, so that a bit of warmth managed to seep into Fawnpaw's cold, snow-dusted fur. She released a soft purr of gratitude and stretched, allowing her short legs to extend to their full (and less-than-impressive) length as her back arched. Finished, she shook her body to dislodge some of the snow and turned to Willowstar.
Her lanky leader was sniffing the air, and so Fawnpaw decided to do the same. Dozens of scents flooded her senses, causing her eyes to fly wide open as she attempted to distinguish between them. Oak trees, grass, moss, snow, dirt...and, at the very edge of her senses, vole. She recognized the scent from the voles she had eaten before in camp, but she frowned as her ears swiveled in all directions. She could neither hear the vole, nor see it. How was she to find it?
Light green eyes turned towards Willowstar eagerly, waiting for instruction. Do I have to use only my nose? How could I possibly find it by just smelling? Or should I try to follow the smell, then find the vole with my eyes? What about my ears? Surely I should be able to hear it when it's so quiet out here... It was, indeed, very quiet. Snow seemed to mute everything, but at the same time it seemed to magnify every sound tenfold.
((Sorry, crap post))
