GENERAL
Name: Stormheart

APPEARANCE
Body Type: Lean, average sized tom
Fur: Gray with a light underside

Overall: Stormheart looks like a very big apprentice and really views himself as such. He keeps his fur in good condition and likes to train with the Warriors' apprentices whenever he can to keep his muscles up. Not that he really needs it. He spends half the time with his fur fluffed up as he hisses at some poor cat to stay still while he applies herbs to their wounds.

PERSONALITY
Positive Traits:
- Quick Learner- When first introduced to something, Stormheart focuses all his time and attention on learning about it. After the first few times he's dealt with it, he becomes bored of it. When exposed to it too often, he becomes frustrated, which is a big reason why he is so annoyed half the time.
- Determined- When Stormheart has his mind set on something, you can bet he's going to follow it through by almost any means necessary. If he says a cat's going to get better, he's going to get better, no matter what Stormheart has to do to make it so. He's not beyond going behind his Leader's back in order to cure his patient, wether it's by stealing herbs or trying an unorthodox way to achieve results in mending a wound or curing an illness.
- Respectful- As much as he disobeys or lies to authority, Stormheart does, in fact, respect the higher ranks when he knows they're right about something. Perhaps it's not safe to leave camp, or an illness may be too far advanced to treat. He respects them enough to not question direct orders and attempts to disobey them as little as possible, often lying or not asking to do something he knows they will not approve of in order to avoid going directly against their orders.
- Insightful- Although Stormheart is among the easily irritated and angry type, he is not blind to the emotions or intentions of others. The slightest change in tone or facial expression is as clear as day to him. He can tell when most cats are lying, especially kits and younger apprentices, and he can see hidden fear or mock concern a tree-length away. Sometimes, if he has observed cats for a long while, he can guess what they're thinking about from their expressions.
Flaws:
- Aggressive- Sometimes it seems that Stormheart is angry all the time. He's always tromping violently through camp on his way to see a patient, pick out fresh-kill, or out to gather herbs. Often, the more advanced apprentices will find him in the training hollow waiting for them. He enjoys training with them when he has the time and fancies himself a warrior as well as a medicine cat, or at least a medicine cat who can inflict as well as treat wounds.
- Controlling- Stormheart, to put it lightly, is one bossy fur-ball. He often looses patience with his patients and raises his voice until they're so terrified of him that they no longer feel pain. Stormheart goes so far as to steal apprentices straight from their mentors' sides and have them help him collecting herbs. He'll hiss directly into a senior warrior's face, daring them to attack a medicine cat, if he feels it'll help persuade them to share their apprentice. After all, helping sick cats is a privilege, isn't it?
- Morbid- One of the rare times Stormheart can get distracted is when he's on the sidelines of a major war. He loves watching battling cats rip each other apart and will often congratulate a warrior or apprentice who comes to him with a torn shoulder after he watched them slice the throat of their opponent. He's not above laughing at a bit of dark humor either. Furthermore, one of his favorite things about being a medicine cat is hearing the battle tales while mending an injured cat.
- Critical- There is always something better to be done in Stormheart's eyes. He could have healed a cat in a better way, he could have cured them quicker, or he could have saved that life. In fact, oddly enough, the only time Stormheart is ever proud of himself is when he helps a queen to kit. This isn't to say that he isn't critical of others. One of his passed times is offering suggestions to 'mouse-brains who can't dodge' on how to better their fighting tactics and avoid ever having to do his job again.
Fears:
- Falling in Love- This is one of the biggest reasons why Stormheart is so grumpy. He truly believes that by being aggressive and mean, he is eliminating all possibilities of ever falling for a she-cat and fathering kits against the warrior code. He does not, however, cut himself off from all affection. He did share connections with his mentor, as if he were a second father, and predicts that he will have a similar connection with his own apprentice some day.
- Disappointing StarClan- This fear is the reason Stormheart is so critical with himself. He fears, along with losing a warrior, that he would let his old mentor down. This is also why he has little regard for asking permission. He would much rather save a life than play it safe.
Quirks:
- Listening to Battle Stories while Tending Wounds- One of the benefits of being a Medicine Cat. Even though sometimes the stories can be exaggerated or outlandish, Stormheart loves hearing them while he mends wounds or even while he's tending to elders.
- Cuffing Ears when some Cat's being a Big Kit- He hates whining. Unless it's a kit, no cat has the right to complain when a thorn is stuck in their fur. The only time he doesn't swat at his patients is when the wound is, in fact, serious.
- Singing while Gathering Herbs- Helps pass the time and certainly makes a trivial task more enjoyable.
Ideals: Honor, Respect, Courage, Defiance
Overall: Any cat in his right mind will see that Stormheart is a big, fat, jerk. The original 'bossy fur-ball'. Rare is the chance to glimpse a smile from this tom unless there's a battle about. The rest of the time, he's avoided at all costs, even if the only shelter nearby is the elders' den. Then again, if a warrior is hurt, there's usually no cat they'd rather see than the snarling gray feline.
HISTORY
Family:
- Mother-
Rainpelt- Father- Grayclaw
History:
Kithood
Stormkit was born to Rainpelt and Grayclaw, two cats whose lines had known nothing but ThunderClan for generation and, more specifically, pure, untainted, warrior. There was no trace of kittypet, loner, rogue, leader, deputy, or medicine cat in his heritage. Rainpelt, who was the more wily of his parental units, never stopped talking about what Stormkit would do as a warrior. He'd fight his way through countless battles and chase any cat who didn't smell of the mighty ThunderClan clear out of their territory, never to return. Well, needless to say, that wasn't what Stormkit wanted.
The pair's only kit wandered out of the nursery on a dare from his denmates one day. Younger kits from another litter claimed he wasn't brave enough. The first thing he saw was a patrol of returning cats, most limping, coming through the gorse tunnel. A cat ran up to meet them and started barking orders. He thought for a moment that this was the clan leader! However, once he started applying herbs, the kit knew he was a medicine cat. Then the real leader ran up to meet the group. The Medicine Cat even got to tell off the leader!
As he got older, Stormkit watched the Medicine Cat more and more often. He was intrigued by how much the warriors listened to him and respected him. After a while, he even started to play a Medicine Cat in the games he played with the other kits. That was when Rainpelt first confronted him. At first, it was just a simple question. SHe wanted to know why he didn't play a warrior. He responded by claiming that warriors did as they were told while medicine cats got to be in charge. When Rainpelt explained that Medicine Cats had to memorize a lot of different herbs, Stormkit said that he didn't care. He wanted to be a Medicine Cat anyway. This angered Rainpelt and she ran off in a fit to fetch Grayclaw.
Grayclaw, however, didn't mind that his son wanted to break the cycle of warriors in his line. He was proud that Stormkit wanted to be different. He even talked to the current Medicine cat, hoping to help his kit along his chosen path.
Apprenticeship
Stormpaw didn't get his wish right away. He spent a whole moon as a warrior apprentice. He sneered every time Rainpelt glanced at him in mock-pride. Every chance he got, he tried to help the Medicine Cat with his chores, grinning evily across the camp to where his mother was watching him in distain.
During a border skirmish with RiverClan, Stormpaw deliberately pushed Rainpelt into the river. She was attacking a young warrior who the apprentice had connected with during a recent gathering. He didn't feel as connected to the warrior code as his denmates. He wanted to protect his friend. Furthermore, he wanted to get revenge. Rainpelt had sought out her kit's friend on purpose, streaking across the whole of the battlefield to get to him. She'd given him what looked like fatal blow and turned to Stormpaw with a victorious grin. That tore it.
With rage in his heart, Stormpaw flung himself at his mother, knocking her into the river that divided RiverClan and ThunderClan. That was the end of her, but not the end of Stormpaw's friend. He limped away with a grateful glance to the gray apprentice. Stormpaw bowed his head and walked slowly away from the battle, too tired to care what was going on behind him. No cat had seen the attack. No cat questioned him when he didn't attend the vigil. He asked to be made the Medicine Cat apprentice that same night, never wanting to meet his friends in battle ever again.
Medicine Cat Life
At twelve moons, Stormpaw was taken to the Moonstone. Having recently stolen burdock root from way outside ThunderClan borders (much too close to Twoleg place), he was feeling quite proud of himself. Not at all as proud, however, as his mentor. He soon discovered that he was to gain his full name that night, for which he was terribly excited. He started running off names in his mind. He fancied Stormclaw or Stormtooth, something that would be rather threatening to show that he wasn't your average Medicine Cat. He had to suppress a yowl when he heard his name was to be Stormheart, for his dedication and courage.
