GENERAL
Name: Foxnose
Name Explanation: Fox; red pelt. Nose; slightly elongated muzzle and tendency to stick his nose into trouble.
Gender: Tom.
Age: 25 moons.
Clan: ThunderClan.
Rank: Warrior.
APPEARANCE
Body Type: Short and stocky, but long.
Fur: Ginger.
Eyes: Muddied amber.
Markings: Ticked tabby.
Overall: Foxnose is short in stature (but long from nose to tail) and packed with muscle, which he takes full advantage of when he can. He has beautifully sleek fur—on his good days. However some tufts of it are always standing up and give him a tousled appearance. This is most evident along his back and rear, where the fur looks almost curled. For being named after a fox, his pelt is not such a saturated red color; it is a pale ginger, darker around the ridge of his spine. Throughout his pelt are darker ticks of color, showing that he is indeed a tabby, if not an obvious one. The small stripes are more evident on his face. His face is narrow around the muzzle, giving him part of his name, and has white on it. This white stretches under his chest and belly to the backsides of his legs. He has thick whiskers and unremarkable eyes, a dirty amber-brown.
PERSONALITY
Positive Traits:
- Curious → He’s always willing to learn. Where other cats might overlook something trivial, he will ask questions about it. This could, potentially, make him wise once he has the experience to go along with his adventurous mind.
- Friendly → If the cat hasn’t directly insulted him, he is kind to everyone in his Clan, and even generally affable to those outside it if they aren’t a present threat. Few cats have reason to hate him unless they see his outgoing nature as an annoyance.
- Gentle → He will never harass those weaker than him. Apprentices are bathed in compliments or advice and would never be punished if they messed up. He doesn’t take advantage of others and can be comforting to the distressed or injured.
- Bold → He never falters in battle. He will easily fight those that pose a threat to his Clanmates and has no qualms about hurting the enemy (even if he won’t kill a cat without reason). If he does develop friendships with those outside ThunderClan, he could set those aside.
- Faithful → He’s proud of his Clan and will remain loyal to it because he knows that, eventually, they will come out on top. He will listen to the higher ups’ every order, and even if those orders are faulty, he is optimistic of a time when there will be no flaws in the warriors.
- Helpful → You can always count on him for a favor; he doesn’t complain about most tasks, even if he won’t always enjoy them.
Flaws:
- Hotheaded → He lets his heart lead his actions sometimes, causing bouts of distress when he feels strongly on an opinion. When he believes in something, he will defend it no matter who he is arguing against. This also makes him rush into battle prematurely, and can put a lot of cats at risk since he doesn’t know how to hold his tongue.
- Moody → Because of his past, he falls into fits of either depression, causing him to withdraw from others and become pointlessly pessimistic, or anger, which completely transforms his personality into a caustic and bitter one.
- Curious → He sticks his nose where it doesn’t belong, including the personal matters of other cats and old secrets that should stay hidden.
- Undiplomatic → His lack of ability to hold his tongue makes him seem reckless to other Clans, and often at Gatherings, when he feels wronged, he will be the one to speak out. Most cats dread taking him on a mission that requires simple talking, because he’ll often say the wrong thing.
Fears: Lightning storms, and rain to a lesser extent. Sickness.
Quirks: Skittish of storms. Self-conscious of his pelt. Asks too many questions and dreams often.
Ideals: Loyalty and passion to the Clan more than forging alliances. Following dreams.
Overall: Foxnose is a friendly, laid-back cat and quite kind to those he is comfortable around; he can also be counted on for a favor. He shows his curious side as he constantly questions the universe, which usually gets him into trouble. However, he is prone to extreme arrogance and recklessness when he is in battle and thinks with his heart, not his mind. His emotion-driven existence is also evident when he falls into fits of depression, grieving for his lost family. During these periods of time, he becomes secluded and moody. All in all, he acts more like a hormonal apprentice than a mature warrior.
HISTORY
Family: Harestep (ginger tabby), father. Cloudberry (blue ticked tabby calico), mother. Duckwing (brown tabby), mate.
History: Foxkit was the solitary kitten from his litter, perhaps because Cloudberry’s small frame would not allow many. He had a normal family, with a bit of a jittery father who was constantly trying to provide for his family. While he was young, everyone joked that he would grow up like his father, restless as the hare he was named after. And he was certainly adventurous during his period of six moons, that one kit in the nursery that always sneaked out and wanted to be an apprentice ahead of his time. He never escaped the camp, at least, and the adults were grateful that he returned to the nest when called for.
When he reached six moons, he was made an apprentice under a black tom named Sloepelt. He was a level-headed cat and older than the leader at that time, Sparrowstar. He knew he could shape Foxpaw’s inquisitive personality into a good trait. The others were jealous that he had a senior warrior as a mentor—except Duckpaw, a she-cat mentored by the leader herself. The two had an odd rivalry, competing on everything from the moment they learned how to fight and hunt. If she caught a mouse, he caught a possum. If he learned a new battle move, she learned its counter. Anyone looking on would think that they couldn’t stand each other, but they were secretly best friends.
Foxpaw’s apprenticeship was not eventful until the Battle of Snakerocks, where he and Duckpaw proved themselves to be named warriors, where they received the names Foxnose and Duckwing and became full-fledged members of ThunderClan.
After that, as he saw battles pass and cats born and die (including his parents of old age), only one thing remained constant in his life: Duckwing. The slightly ditsy and tomboyish kitten had evolved into a beautiful and level-headed she-cat. His secretly gentle, innocent nature made him awkward until she decided it was time to court him instead of the other way around, and eventually he matured as a tomcat.
Duckwing was soon to bear his kittens. He became a fidgety father-to-be just like his own sire, Harestep. Things appeared to be going great—until after a patrol, he found the nursery empty. He was prodded in the direction of the medicine cat’s den and realized that his mate was dying of an unknown illness. In the end, Duckwing delivered her kits and died a few days after, before they could be named. She passed on the sickness to them; that as well as starvation (no queen willing to let the infection spread to her own children) was the end of them—and Foxnose’s chance of a perfect life.
